2024 is more than halfway over, which means that we’ve already seen some very cool European j-fashion events, including Lolita de Vil in Strasbourgand the Queen is Dead in Manchester. But what about North America? What kinds of events do we have to look forward to? Luckily, there are 3 events as we start to wind down the year.
La Vie en Rosé, September 20-22
Hosted by Rosé Forêt, this event will take place September 20-22 in Denver, Colorado in the historic Grant-Humphreys Mansion. The event will include a masquerade ball, fashion walk, swap meet, tea party, j-fashion marketplace, social events, panels, and more. Their vendor market place includes fashion including lolita, decora, fairy kei, and ouji. This marks Rosé Forêt’s first in person event, though they have hosted virtual events that I have been a part of before! New events are still being announced, so be sure to follow their socials and website for more details.
Kei-Con, October 18-20
Kei Con is hosting it’s 4th convention in Toronto, Canada, from October 18-20. This year the theme is “The Bruncheoning,” promising an EGGcelent time. This convention features includes a swap meet, vendor hall, panels, game shows, and tea party. Kei Con experienced a temporary setback earlier this year when their prior venue, Ontario Science Centre, was closed due to structural issues (a nightmare scenario I truly cannot imagine less than 4 months away from their event) Luckily, they were able to secure a new venue so the event is moving ahead as planned. Kei-Con is still announcing guests and vendors, so be sure to check back in with them for updates.
Ursa Major, December 6-8
Obviously I’m slightly biased since I help put this event on, but I’m very excited for Bay Area Kei’s Ursa Major, taking place in San Francisco December 6-8. Gothic and Lolita Market will be returning with a selection of Japanese indie designers, as well brands from all over the world in the Ursa Market. The convention’s events will include a rave, masquerade ball, swap meet, market place, game lounge, panels, photo ops, and more. Registration has begun, so be sure to get your badge soon to take advantage of discounted tickets.
